Why can’t I renew?
Other Unlicensed Vehicles
If you have other vehicles registered under your name that have expired licenses, you must renew them before your initial license disc can be issued. South Africa law mandates that all vehicles registered under your name must be up to date. You cannot license one vehicle independently of others; they must all be renewed.
Enforcement Orders
An enforcement order is issued if you fail to comply with the requirements of a Courtesy Letter following a traffic offence. According to South African law, an enforcement order will block your vehicle license disc from being issued until it is resolved. (Enforcement orders are applicable under AARTO – currently implemented in Gauteng but set to roll out nationally July 2024).
Roadworthy Requirements
If your vehicle is marked as requiring CRW (Certificate of Roadworthiness), it means you need to have your vehicle inspected to ensure it is roadworthy. Once your vehicle passes the roadworthy test, your license will unblocked.
